This year we’re teaming up with GMG to bring you the hottest acts from their #IMOL series of events in Wellington. First up this round: ENERGEE!!
ENERGEE is an artist from Waitarere Beach, just out of Levin.
Having been in the music scene for many years working with genres such as Rock, Reggae and Thrash Metal, in 2016 ENERGEE decided to try his hand at the Hip-Hop/Rap genre. Dropping 9 tracks that year on SoundCloud and bringing the energy on every track, covering a range of topics including the controversial TPPA, ENERGEE displayed a range of knowledge and depth within the music he creates. Accruing over 2000 likes on Facebook and nearly 200 followers on Soundcloud he has also developed a following to back the hustle up!!
In response to our Q&A the artist kept it short and precise with what he wanted to say. He decribed how important it is to ignore people attempting to stomp out your passion by saying: “Don’t listen to what people say, stay true and real and usually if youre
feelin’ it they’ll feel it”. He also highlighted what he loves about the creative process: “I love feeding of those moments of inspiration. My favorite way to make a song is when the beat speaks to me. I guess most difficult would be finding the point that I’m happy with it and leaving it alone.”
